Winemaker

Your Mission
We are looking for an experienced Winemaker to lead our winery team for a fixed term 15 month maternity cover.
They will be responsible for the production of award winning, quality wines that meet the requirements of Spy Valley Wine’s consumers.
Key Roles:
- Develop and plan all aspects of winemaking activities
- Manage the winemaking process from cellar to bottle ready. Ensure all winery aspects meet WSMP, SWNZ QC, compliance, food safety, and market eligibility requirements
- Ensure support for Lab, Cellar operations and bottling, as required
- Liaise with clients to ensure the requirements for their wine are met
- Assist in the maintenance and continual improvement of Health & Safety (H&S) standards for the company
- Represent the winery in industry events, tastings, competitions and media engagements and trips as required, including winery tours and tastings to enhance brand visibility and reputation
- Lead the winemaking team during vintage and throughout the year
- Providing regular updates and reports to the senior leadership team
What we are looking for from you:
- At least 3 years experience in a Winemaker role
- Experience with bottling would be an advantage
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Previous experience leading staff
- Happy to be involved hands on in the cellar and bottling line
- Enjoy engaging with wine media and hosting market partners
