Harvest 2019 proved to be a good one. The growing season got off to a great start with a relatively wet spring providing good growth and a slightly poor flowering ensuring crop levels would be low for the season. The last significant rain of the season fell on Christmas Day with only 20mm falling from then until the 10th of March. The silver lining of this was lower crops with completely clean fruit and one of our earliest harvests on record.
From a winemaking point of view, this harvest has been great! The Pinot Noir intensity is pronounced and despite very low crop loads the fruit is perfectly clean. Our other varieties look good so far with a nice balance and plenty of flavours. We will undoubtedly see some exciting results in the wine!
